the Olympic Games

One of the great joys in my career has been, up until this last year, my role in managing coverage for The Seattle Times of the Olympic Games.  I’ve edited or photographed every Games from Barcelona in 1992 through to Torino in 2006.  To some extent my work in amateur athletics and the Olympics has defined my career over most of those years.  I am grateful for the opportunity, and proud of the work I’ve done, though greatly disappointed that it has come to an end.  I hope this newspaper, or some other agency, will see fit to return me to that role.

There is perhaps no greater spectacle in sport than the Olympics.

There are thousands of images that come to mind when I consider the last nine Games; far too many to include here.  But following is a sampling of some of the more memorable moments, each of them an experience all its own that I shall always carry with me.

Current through December 27, 2007
